When working towards legal compliance it is important to ensure you have the right fire equipment and system in place; that it has been serviced periodically, that fire safety signage is in good condition and that you and your staff have been properly trained on how to use the fire equipment and systems correctly.

  1. Do you have the correct fire equipment and systems installation for the application required?
  2. Is your fire equipment approved by the relevant certification bodies i.e. SABS?
  3. Has you serviced your fire equipment and system at regular intervals as per standard?
  4. Is your fire safety and evacuation signage in good condition and easily visible throughout?
  5. Is your fire equipment or fire escapes routes obstructed in any way?
  6. Have your fire systems been tested at regular intervals i.e. weekly testing, annual testing?
  7. Do you have an up to date fire or asset register indicating the required information as per the relevant standards i.e. Fire Equipment Register?
  8. Is your fire equipment maintenance Service Provider registered with a SANAS Approved Certification Body registered with DOL, and are their technicians registered with SAQCC Fire?
  9. Is your fire systems maintenance Service Provider registered with PSIRA and SAQCC Fire for fire alarm system and gaseous fire suppression system maintenance?
